I don't normally go for romance novels--the last time I read one the romance scenes were so corny I hadn't picked up another one since. Feminine Touch was recommended by a family member--"this one is different!" and indeed it is. A good novel...a good read. The plot (which won "Most Unique Plot" award at Valley Forge Winning Beginnings contest) kept me turning the pages, the characters were alive and real, I cared about them...the romance scenes sexy and modern. There is depth and understanding of the attraction and complexity between man and woman. There is a compelling exploration of a character torn by her desires and her principles. This book starts out on a game show where Monica Moreland meets three bachelors and picks one--but not for dating! She is supposed to be redesigning his pad. Only the bachelor, Jerrod O'Neal seems to be anything but what he seems. As Monica and Jerrod get to know each other better, things only get more unbelievably fun. Their adventure extends far beyond what is expected in a typical romance novel, out of the bedroom, and into the dog house, on set, and into uncharted territories.
I really liked the humor in this novel, it had a good mix of characters that interacted well together and also made me more interested in them and how things would work out. I didn't enjoy reading Monica's point of view in the first person. It felt like I was reading her mind, and I guess, I didn't want the character to tell me everything. Other than that it was a good fun story with characters that were in an unusual situation but had the ability to handle things in an exciting and interesting way for the reader to enjoy.
I found the story to be very endearing and heartwarming. It's a great contemporary romance novel with the right touch of humor and a fun lighthearted story that has a great mix of characters and romantic fun.
